Z. was a Pole from Galicia.

Z. -- according to Yakov Vaksman -- was an officer of the Austrian army.

Z. excelled in Yiddish talk and had acted in amateur roles most of the time in Lateiner repertoire in various Yiddish troupes in Russia.
