According to Dina Feinman, L. was an Odesser.

Apparently, in Russia he married Keni Sonyes and prompted in the troupe, where he had also acted. Together with his wife in 1884, he worked in the Yiddish theatre in Russia and then immigrated to London and then America in 1887, where he shortly thereafter passed away.
