Anna Jacobowitz
(Chana Meyerovitsh)

 

 

J. was born in Warsaw, Poland.

Her parents were owners of a food store.

She learned in a folkshul and sang in a children's choir in a synagogue.

In 1912 she became a chorus singer in Kaminski's theatre and later performed in the troupe of Julius Adler-Lipovski in Vilna where she debuted as "Deytshke" in Gordin's "Shkhith".

For Zhitomirski she began to act in prima donna roles.

Later she married Hyman Jacobowitz and followed the same path to the stage as her husband.

Specialty: Prima donna.
