Mary Gutovitsh
 

 

She was born in Uman, Ukraine.

Her father was the actor Yakov Tsipkus.

At the age of seven she began singing in Warsaw together with her brother Mishe, remaining in the Yiddish operettas, later touring across Poland.

At the age of fifteen she took to acting in adult roles in Rappel's troupe in Odessa.

In Russia G. acted in Russian with the Kokhansky brothers .

After a tour across Poland and Romania in 1926, she immigrated to Argentina where she acted with the same troupe.
