Isidore Eksler
 

 

E. was born in Tarnopol, Galicia, into a Orthodox family, where he received a strong Jewish education.

In 1907 he immigrated to Toronto (Canada), where he took up with commerce until 1922, when he became excited about the Yiddish theatre and transformed the Standard Theatre into a permanent Yiddish theatre, for which he was manager and director of the Yiddish troupes alone or with partners-actors.
