WORLD WAR II ARMY ENLISTMENT RECORDS

You can search the Army enlistment records for World War II. This database includes information on approximately nine million men and women who enlisted/reenlisted into the U.S. Army and Women's Army Auxiliary Corps. Please note that all of the Army enlistees are listed here. This is because thirteen percent of these microfilmed records, i.e. originally created on IBM punch cards, then put onto microfilm (the punch cards were subsequently destroyed), could not be electronically scanned (also thirty-five percent of these records have errors in them).

These enlistment records generally contain the following information about the enlistee:
Army Serial Number
Name
State and Country of Residence
Place of Enlistment
Date of Enlistment (year)
Grade
Army Branch
Term of Enlistment
Nativity (Place of Birth)
Year of Birth
Race
Education
Civilian Occupation
Marital Status
Component
Box and Reel Number of the Microfilm

Search the Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938 - 1946 (Enlistment Records);
also the Frequently Asked Questions about these records.

Visit the National Archives website at www.nara.gov, and its AAD (Access to Archival Databases).
