Kalman Zingman
 

 

Z. was born on 1 November 1889 in Slobodke, a suburb of Kovno, Lithuaniaa.

He learned until age fourteen in a cheder and yeshiva.

Afterwards he became an employee in a manufacturing business.

In 1901 he debuted with a song in the "Shtrahlen"collection from A. Litwin.

After the March Revolution he founded in Kharkov the publishing house "Idish", where he published his one-acter "Ba der ozere", also known as "Klunymus", his lebensbild "A kholum fun a gevezenem" (Poltave 1917).

In 1921 he returned to Kovno, where he went on with literary work. Due to his state of health, he settled afterwards in
"Kris", where on 30 March 1929 he passed away in Simferopol of a brain inflammation.
