Rosa Ziegler

She was born on 25 December 1888 in Iasi, Romania.

Her father was a person who pasted posters on walls. Her mother was a seamstress.

Through a known contact in the theatre.... .S's three brothers, Avraham, Shmuel and Lazar -- folksingers.

When their mother, the chief income earner in the home, became paralyzed, S. went into the coffee house as a singer.

S. however was not satisfied, and she went back to Iasi. There she went around, together with a brother, and sang in a coffee house there. A short time later, Segalesko and Goldenberg came to Iasi, and they heard S. sing. They took her in to the troupe with which she acted for five years in the Bucharest Jignitza, under the serious material conditions, until she married earlier with a Romanian-Jewish actor, Maurice Ziegler, with whom she furthered the next leg of her stage career.

S.'s three daughters: Ela, Sevilla and Erna act on the Yiddish stage.
