Charles Weinstein


W. was born on 15 June 1890 in Romanov, Galicia.

He learned in cheder, in a yeshiva in Kluyzenburg (Hungary).

In 1904 he went to his brother in New York. He worked for his brother in a toy business, afterwards traveling around as a peddler.

In 1915 he opened a grocery store in Boston.

Through is acquaintance with the theatre director Levitan, he became a theatrical agent throughout the province. After being with Levitan for six years he became manager, together with Isidore Lillian, in the Grand Opera House. He went away for a time from the theatre--from 1924 until 1927 -- and was manager in Chesley(?), from 1927-28 was together with Katz and Green as manager of the Grand Opera House, and from 1931 to 1936 was with Katz in Franklin Park.
