Sally Siegel

Born in 1882 in Piatra Neamt, Rumania. Her father was a cantor. At the age of fifteen she entered into, together with Lisa Shapiro, work in a cigarette factory. From there they became through the actor Yosele Sherman, M. Ziegler and S. Rozenshteyn taken into a troupe, in which they acted in the garden of Sholem Sheykeles in Iasi. After some weeks of acting in the troupe, she crossed over to become a chorus singer for Segalesco in Bucharest, where she was for three years. Later she toured across the Rumanian province with Leon Shpatser, with whom she acted in vaudeville in Yiddish and came afterwards with him to Czernowitz and Galicia, where she acted for several months.

She returned to Bucharest, where she was engaged by the Silberts and Malvina Lobel for a tour across Austria and Galicia. From here she went over to the troupe of Tanentsap, then she acted with Sam Shilling for several months in Tarnopol, Tarnow and other Galician cities.

From Galicia she immigrated to America, where she acted in the province with Sara Adler and Max Wilner (still not as a professional actor).

She became a member of section 2, acting with various troupes in the province, then marrying and then retiring from the stage.
