Dr. Yekhezkel Lipshitz


L. was born in 1883 in Chernigov Gubernia, Ukraine. He was educated in poverty. He completed an external gymnasium in Odessa, studied German philology, history and philosophy in the Vienna university, where he received his doctorate.

L. writes papers about literary and cultural problems in Dr. Friedrich Adler's monthly journal "Der kampf" and is interested especially in Yiddish drama and the problems of the Yiddish theatre. He published in the Vienna workers-lawyers "Freie tribune" very many analyses of Yiddish dramas and reviews about Yiddish theatre, then L. had published in Vienna a journal "Jüdisches teater", which of the third volume became the official journal, that was published in Latin script; L. had in Yiddish translated his articles under the pseudonym of Bimini about Yiddish theatre.
