Gershon-Chaim Levner


L. was born on 8 January 1864 in Groys-Tokmak (Bolshoy Tokmak), Tavritsh Gubernia, Crimea.

He received a traditional Jewish education. Afterwards he was busy with commerce.

Asides from many articles in "Hmlits", "Hatsfirah", "Hamagid" under the pseudonym of Nkh'l, he had also in Hebrew published several books, and in Yiddish over fifty storybooks, that were since the beginning of the 1890s printed in Vilna.

In Vilna there was published L.'s "Der ferehlikher purim, in 5 bilder, tsum lakhen, un frehldkh makhen fun G. Ch. Levner" [a later edition from 1913, p. 28, 16°].
