1931-1969
 

Eva Eisen-Orenstein


E. was born in 1899 in Konin, Poland.

She completed a seven-class middle school.

She attended a Polish dramatic school and for three years studied music.

E., working under the pseudonym of Zhelizhinska, acted on the professional Polish stage in Posen.

In 1926 she crossed over to the Yiddish stage and began to act in the Krakow Yiddish society-like theatre, led by and under the direction of Jonas Turkow. She went by the first name as Manya.

During the Second World War, she perished at the hands of the Nazis.
