Rosa Becker
(Zilbert/Silbert)

 

B. was born during Pesakh in 1892 in Grodzisk, Poland.

Her father was a rabbi.

At age fourteen she married her cousin the actor Kalinski, and she was taken into the chorus of Bernstein, where she performed for two years until the actor Becker came along and took her into his troupe as a soubrette.

After her husband's death she married Becker, traveling around a long time with Becker's troupe across Russia, Galicia and Poland.

In 1924 B. came to America, where she performed some seasons in Detroit, Montreal and Winnipeg, and from time to time in New York.
