THE CHACEK FAMILY OF OSTROLEKA

Seated, l. to r.: Sam Chacek (later Silverman), Chaya Sura Chacek, Meyer Chacek, Hinde Chacek, Moishe Perkal (husband of Elka.)
Standing: Chaya ? (girlfriend of Sam?), Philip Chacek, Esther Chacek, Elka Chacek.

Sam and Philip immigrated to the United States. Esther and Elka couldn't immigrate to the United States at first, so they went to Cuba, eventually immigrating to the United States in the 1940s.
Their parents Meyer and Chaya Sura and their daughter Hinde stayed in Ostroleka, and  perished during the Holocaust. Meyer and Chaya Sura disapproved of the "goyische" life in the United States and decided to stay put in Poland.
