The family was originally from Kovel, where the children were born. In 1941, they were all living in Mohilev. All died in the Holocaust.

The parents were Yosef and Hava Niss nee Stepak; the children's names were, presumably in order of birth: Henialeh Havas, Avraham Yitzhakel, and Elkanan Asher
